The Chicago Boltby Jasmine / December 16th, 2019 | 126 Comments This post today is going to be a little different from what I normally write about, but don't worry it's an interesting one!
Honestly, it just sounded like a freak thing to me -- I didn't pay any attention to it, until one of my kind readers wrote to me.
There may be more to the Chicago Bolt than meets the eye.
Let's look at the two students involved in the incident: for the sake of anonymity, I'm going to refer to them as
Charlie and
Catie.
Charlie and Catie were best friends up until that year. My source didn't tell me much about Catie, but he had
a lot to say about Charlie. Anyone I asked about him did. He was a smart, confident boy, that nobody really wanted to be around for long - except for Catie. He was adopted by his parents when he was three, and all sorts of strange things happened around him. He always got extra snacks and soda's from the vending machines: he always won at games, and anyone he decided he didn't like? Always ended up in a humiliating situation. The only reason anyone bothered to hang out with him was because he somehow never got caught doing anything.
Catie, who was one of the few people that could stand Charlie, was on the swim team. He always went to their matches, and she always won. I guess you could call it a coincidence, but I heard that at practice she could never get close to her match times.
So these two start arguing constantly, then they stop talking to each other entirely, and then they start fighting again. Many of their classmates seemed unsure if they were
just friends, or if they were dating. Or if they
had dated. They were together constantly from Kindergarten onward.
The last time they ever met, well, you all know the story. They met outside of school, and tragedy struck.
So, why am I posting about this "friendship" drama? Well, it turns out that Charlie confessed!
When he woke up, he immediately asked to speak to an officer. He was "incoherent and agitated". I wasn't able to get his exact words - but he claimed it was his fault. Everyone dismissed him, including the officer he talked to, and even Catie's own parents.
Ever since then, Charlie's behavior escalated. He was in and out of juvenile detention, and mostly kept to himself outside of his outbursts - until he finally left town.
The Chicago Bolt, an act of a nature, or one of the messiest friendship breakups of all time?
Charlie is long gone, and Catie will never be able to tell us her side of the story.
I, myself, am still a little skeptical. Extra snacks and being a supernatural good luck charm does not necessarily mean he can summon lightning. Then again, they were inseparable, she might have known
just the right thing to say.
Edit 1/23/2020: Hello, Jasmine here. I would just like to remind everyone that while conversation is ALWAYS encouraged, I will be DELETING comments with too many personal/identifying details that affect those involved. If this continues, I may have to DISABLE comments on this post! Thank you
