SettingInfinity is located in the middle of nowhere, literally. A few hundred miles off the coast, on a small island, is where the "school for the gifted" resides. The entire campus is covered by a plexiglass bio-dome, nearly invisible until you run into it for the first time. There's very little space the school doesn't take up on the island, and the only way to get there is by boat. The only way in or out of the campus is through a plexi-glass door which is heavily guarded at all times. Of course, from the outside, the school looks normal- even pleasant. The first thing you would notice is the beautiful courtyard, a large fountain in the middle, and a flourishing garden around it. The fountain is surrounded by paths that lead to the dorms, classes, recreation center, and free area. The path to the classes also leads to the library. The building for classes is large, as big as any regular school building. Although on the inside there are very few rooms. It's mostly gyms for the students to train their powers in. Each "room" has a teacher, most are strict, but there are a few nicer ones. The infirmary is located in the same building for quick access. As for the Library, it stands above the school building by a floor. The Library looks grand, almost regal from the outside. It contains books in almost every single language, including braille copies. On every floor there is a help desk, but the first floor is the biggest one. Normally students can volunteer to work it. Also on the first floor is the cafe. On the second floor is the computer lab, and on the third floor is a large balcony and eating area. Dorms are in a large building, and each room contains two to three students. They are separated by gender, female students in the left wing and male students in the right. The administration office is also located in the same building as the dorms, which are closely monitored. Staff at Infinity have two options for housing. The main staff housing bloc is far away (or as far away as you can get,) from most student areas. Alternatively, for a modest pay raise, staff can choose to live in the student dorms in remodeled rooms- to help "keep an eye" on things. (For some, this is not optional.) Staff rooms have more amenities than student rooms-including full kitchens- and are single occupancy. The Recreation area is probably the best part of the school, and by far the largest building. It contains a Football and Soccer Field, an indoor swimming pool, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, racket-ball rooms, a hockey rink, and more. All of this is just on the left wing. In the middle is a food court with all sorts of restaurants for food. Students can buy things from here instead of the cafeteria in the school with good merits(slips of paper with their teachers signature). On the right wing is a large arcade, and a theater that is often used by clubs, or for movie nights. The last public area is the Free Area, a large field that extends half-way across the island. It's dotted with trees and a stream runs strait across it, students are allowed to come out here to hone their powers after class and chill out. Some classes will be held out here, but be careful- nobody's allowed out here after dark! Lastly, there are the hidden areas of Infinity. These areas are, well, hidden! They are only known to high level, senior staff- or those with powers that would be able to detect them. The school has set up a local network that allows cell phone and email communications within the dome, all communications are secretly monitored. The rest of the island is just forest, and that's all you can see you all around the dome. No sign of the ocean outside, and no sound from the outside either. For the time you're in Infinity, you'll almost never hear anything from the outside world. After awhile, most students forget it. |
