An Infinity Admissions interview with:
Charles Brent
”Full Name?”
“Charles Nicky Brent.”
”Nicknames?”
“Charlie.”
”Age?”
“Twenty-six.”
”Gender?”
“Male.”
”Ethnicity?”
“English & Australian.”
”Birthplace & Date?”
“Boston, Massachusetts. February 27.”
”Orientation”
“Straight.”
”Status?”
“Single.”
”Occupation?”
“Chemistry teacher.”
”Power?”
“Elemental Transmutation, I can make one thing another.”
”Height?”
“Six foot, two inches. Yeah, I’m sort of tall.”
”Weight?”
“One hundred ninety pounds.”
”Personality?”
“I’m a nice, socially awkward, intelligent person. You have to be intelligent to be a chemistry teacher. Especially at a school for gifted children. Unfortunately, being socially awkward isn’t a good job requirement for being a teacher. It’s actually a hindrance. I hate it when the kids just stare at me, like they’re silently judging me behind their special eyes.
But once I get more comfortable around people, I’m actually a pretty nice guy. I wouldn’t characterize myself as good, but I wouldn’t characterize myself as evil either. Though it is entirely possible. Seeing as I am good & chemistry, & I can change things. What am I saying? I’m a teacher. Being evil would put me out of the job.”
”Life story?”
“I wish I could have some sort of awesome past, with kick ass stories & such. But, I just had a semi-normal childhood. I was the son of a military man & a teacher. My father died in battle, but I forgot which war that was. My mother didn’t much care for my father, he had a temper & a drinking problem.
But this question isn’t about my parents, it’s about me. As a kid in the nineties, there really wasn’t anything to do. We didn’t have iPods, we had Walkmans. I know it sounds lame to the kids, but to us they were the best. When my mom remarried, some accountant from Los Angeles, then we became rich. When you’re sixteen & rich, the world is your oyster.
I discovered my power when I was eighteen & researching elemental transmutation, turns out it wasn’t that hard. It was something you could learn from a book afterall, but after that, I discovered something. Most people need transmutation circles to change something, I don’t. I just think about it, & it changes into what I want when I touch it. My powers hard to explain, & my mother thought it odd that I could do it. We kept the power secret, & I decided I wanted to be a teacher, so I took the classes, flew through them effortlessly, & passed all my teaching classes. So, now I’m a teacher. What better for a gifted teacher, like me, to teach at a gifted school?”
”Other?”
“I love science & math. When I’m not teaching I’m probably blowing things up. I wanted to be a game designer when I was a child.”
